The Brontë shawl is Susan’s love letter to the Brontë sisters, the novelists Emily, Charlotte and Anne. The Brontës lived in the 19th century, at a time when shawls were a staple outer garment in a woman’s wardrobe: everyday shawls would be knitted from hand-spun wool and made large enough to wrap around the body. The Brontë shawl is reminiscent of this type of large triangular shawl and uses different techniques, such as traditional lace stitch patterns, stripes and colourwork. Tassels add a decorative, luxurious flourish to the shawl.
Brontë is knitted using [link: Susan Crawford Byre = /collections/byre :link], a fingering weight yarn that is delightfully lofty and soft, created from a blend of Jacobs and Shetland fibres spun exclusively for us in a nearby Yorkshire mill.
Brontë is shown here in two colour ways.

22 sts and 40 rows = 10 cm / 4 in over garter stitch worked flat, after blocking. We obtained this gauge using 4 mm needles.

Returns
Due to multiple parties which include the factory as well as the warehouse, we cannot effectively manage inventory. The actual stock levels can fluctuate at any point. It's possible that you may not receive your order once it's been placed.
Our policy runs for 30 days. We cannot exchange or refund your order if it has been 30 days since the purchase.
To be eligible for a refund the product must be unopened and in the same condition as when you received it in. The item must be returned in its original packaging.
