The Beatrix vest features an all-over textured pattern that is intuitive and pleasant to knit. The vest can be worn by itself or together with the [productlink: Potter = pattern-potter :productlink] cowl, which features the same twist stitch pattern. Beatrix is knitted from the bottom up in the round with steeks added at the armhole divide. Finally, neckbands and armbands are picked up and knitted. The vest is inspired by Beatrix Potter (1866-1943) – an author, farmer, shepherd, entrepreneur, and activist, passionate about maintaining traditional ways of life in the Lake District where she lived. It reflects the practicality and simplicity of Beatrix Potter’s way of life.
Beatrix is knitted using [link: Susan Crawford Barn = /collections/barn :link] a DK weight, worsted spun yarn that is delightfully smooth and soft, created from a blend of Jacobs and Shetland fibres spun exclusively for us in a nearby Yorkshire mill.
Beatrix is shown here in two colour ways.
Colourway One uses shade:
[productlink: Puddle = barn-puddle :productlink].
Colourway two uses shade:
[productlink: Plum Jam = barn-plum-jam :productlink].
Samples shown in size 3 worn with 2.5 cm / 1 in positive ease (on Ruth) and with 7.5 cm / 3 in negative ease (on Susan).
The pattern includes instructions for nine sizes to fit chest measurements between 71cm (28in) and 157cm (62in) and contains both clear written pattern directions, together with charted instructions for cable pattern.
