About Love Hearts
These charming socks feature a textured heart surrounded by elegant cables which wind their way down the front panel of the socks. The socks are knitted from the top down and use a varying amount of yarn depending on the length of foot knitted. A women’s UK size 7 sock for example, will leave approximately 20g of yarn unworked, which would be ample to work an extra pattern repeat in the leg of each sock if preferred. Approximately 240m is required to knit the same size socks as shown. The pattern is written assuming DPNs will be used so if you prefer to use circular needles and/or magic loop, pay particular attention to division and positioning of stitches on the needles. If you don’t have a cable needle, simply use the 5th DPN from the set as your cable needle.
Love Hearts are knitted in Ghyll, 100% Lonk wool, now classified as a rare breed. Ghyll is spun from the fleeces of my own Lonk sheep combined with the fleeces of my dear friend, Jeffrey, who has bred Lonk sheep since he was seven years old. The shade used is Jo, an uplifting variegated colourway, of pinks, plums and taupes.
Explanation is provided in the pattern for adjusting the foot length of the sock to achieve a good fit. The pattern contains both written and charted instructions for the front panel and each size has its own chart. Each line of the chart is read from right to left.
A very straight forward pattern suitable for all knitters.
